Timbuktu is one of the most talented MCs on the Scandinavian hip-hop scene and an established name within hip-hop circles in Malmoe as well as in Stockholm and in Copenhagen. He has been rapping since the early 1990s and is the founder of the label JuJu Records. Timbuktu mixes hip-hop with fragments of world music, blues, and reggae. He raps in both Swedish and English with great linguistic accuracy. The lyrics are critical, with humor and perspective. Timbuktu has collaborated with Danish singer and producer Obi, with whom he founded the group Excel in the mid-90s. The group released the single “All Night Long” in 1998, which was followed by the album Bright Lights, Big City. Timbuktu has also toured with Petter and Thomas Rusiak. In 2001, he released his first solo album T2: KontraKultur; a double album featuring twelve tracks in Swedish and twelve in English. Since then, he has released numerous albums and is currently collaborating with the band Damn!
