WALID RA’AD/THE ATLAS GROUP

Walid Ra’ad er mediekunstner og Assistant Professor of Art ved Cooper Union i New York, USA. Hans værker inkluderer video, performance, fotografi og mixed media-projekter. Hans videoværker tæller: “Up to the South” (Salloum/Ra’ad, 60 min., 1993); en samling af videooptagelser med titlen “The Dead Weight of a Quarrel Hangs” (Ra’ad, 18 min., 1996-99); og “Hostage: The Bachar Tapes” (Ra’ad (Bachar), 18 min., 2000). Mixed media-projekter tæller: “The Atlas Group: Documents from The Atlas Group Archive” (1999-) og “The Loudest Muttering Is Over: Documents from The Atlas Group Archive” (2001-). Hans medieværker er blevet vist på Documenta 11 (Kassel, Tyskland), The Venice Biennale (Italien), The Whitney Biennial (New York, USA), The Ayloul Festival (Beirut, Libanon) og adskillige andre festivaler i Europa, Mellemøsten og Nordamerika. Ra’ad er endvidere medlem af Arab Image Foundation, Beirut/New York (www.fai.org.lb) og stiftende medlem af The Atlas Group, Beirut/New York (www.theatlasgroup.org). Ra’ad repræsenteres af Anthony Reynolds Gallery i London, Storbritannien og af Sfeir Semler Gallery i Hamborg, Tyskland.
