YNKB is locally based artists group based in outer Noerrebro, a former working-class neighborhood in Copenhagen, which today houses a large percentage of immigrants. YNKB wishes to relocate artistic activity to local communities; i.e. YNKB seeks inspiration in human interrelations in outer Noerrebro for activities involving the neighborhood. YNKB is collaborating with local grassroots movements in the attempt to establish an Activity Park on the grounds next to Noerrebro Station, owned by DSB (The Danish Railway), and has produced a proposal for an Art and Culture Center in the Fragtmandshallerne on Noerrebro. In addition to their activities in the community, YNKB has organized a series of events in its space: video and film screenings, lectures, debates, and concerts. YNKB's space is also being used for meetings and swopshop sessions. YNKB has participated in: In-Tangible Exchange (Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, San Jose, Costa Rica, 2003); Utopia Station (Martha Rosler's pavillon, Venice Biennale, Italy, 2003); The Prague Biennial 1 (Czech Republic, 2003); and Kontoret for Jordforbindelse (The Museum of Contemporary Art, Roskilde, Denmark, 2004). For more info, please visit: www.ynkb.dk. During Minority Report, YNKB is represented by Finn Thybo Andersen (b. 1943 in Sindal, Denmark. Lives and works in Løgstør and Copenhagen, Denmark) and Gillion Grantsaan (b. 1968 in Paramaribo, Surinam. Lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Copenhagen, Denmark). |
