HELLE MERETE BRIX

Helle Merete Brix is a journalist and writer. She graduated from the Danish School of Journalism, Aarhus, Denmark, in 1988. Among other things, she has written a novel and two plays and is presently working as a freelance journalist. In recent years, Brix has primarily been occupied with the meeting between the West and Islam. She is co-author of the books Islam i Vesten – på Koranens vej? (Copenhagen: Tiderne Skifter, 2002) and I krigens hus – Islams kolonisering af Vesten (Copenhagen: Hovedland, 2003). In feature articles and debates, she has highlighted Islam as an ideology in relation to freedom of speech, democracy, and equality. Brix is currently working on a collection of essays dealing, among other things, with Bosnia after the civil war as well as Islam, culture, and identity.
